Flaky, Itchy Scalp Remedy

Nioxin Research Laboratory has always been interested in healthy scalp. Other Nioxin products that I have reviewed have proved this. Previously they have been solely dedicated to finding remedies for hair loss by improving the scalp atmosphere. I tried out a new product from Nioxin that is not for hair loss but is for healthy scalp.

Nioxin Scalp Recovery is formulated to get rid of dandruff, flaking and itchy scalp. While many formulations for the dandruff are good for the scalp but not the hair, Nioxin Scalp Recovery is also moisturizing to hair.

It contains Pyrithione Zinc which is proven to help eliminate dandruff, relive itching, prevent seborrheic dermatitis and the symptoms relating to it.

It contains Green Tea Polyphenols, a natural botanical extract that soothes, dry scalp and contains high-concentrations of anti-oxidants.

The Scalp Recovery system consists of three parts.
The first step is a medicating cleanser that gently cleanses and moisturizes the scalp. It is sulfate free.

The second step is a moisturizing conditioner designed to restore moisture to both hair and scalp.

The third step is the Soothing Serum designed to relieve the symptoms of seborrheic dermatitis.

My Test
I cleansed my hair with Scalp Recovery Medicating Cleanser, lathering for about one minute and then rinsing thoroughly. It created a nice amount of suds and my hair and scalp felt clean and fresh.

I followed this with Scalp Recovery Moisturizing Conditioner. I massaged it into my scalp and left it in my hair for about two minutes. The directions say to leave it in from one to three minutes maximum effectiveness.

After I rinsed the moisturizing conditioner from my hair, I applied Scalp Recovery Soothing Serum. The directions said to apply it evenly over the affected area. The directions did not tell me exactly how much should be used or even suggest the amount. I read all the literature on the Scalp Recovery product but did not find an approximate amount listed. I used the applicator bottle and applied the serum over the top of my head. As it turned out, I may have applied too much. After my hair was dry, it felt heavy. It did not feel greasy or dirty – only heavy. In fact my style lasted three days and did not feel dirty. It did feel heavy and did not have that really clean, light feeling. I suggest that anyone who uses the serum, apply it sparingly the first one or two times until you get a feel for the product.

The result.
Even with the over use of the Soothing Serum, my scalp felt good. It felt clean and very fresh. I have recommended the product to others with flaky and itchy scalp problems. They have found it effective in relieving their problems, so I feel confident in recommending it to you.
