Higher Math in the Workplace

How many times have you thought or heard, “why do I have to learn Algebra or when will I use this math anyway?” Actually, elementary, secondary, and post-secondary students have asked these questions. However, Achieve.org developed brochures to share how higher-level math is used in the workplace. The series, "Mathematics at Work" include seven brochures, Health Care, Civil Engineering, Manufacturing, Semiconductors, Information Technology, Aerospace and Construction. Each brochure includes a description of the work, estimated jobs available in that field with salaries through 2016. In addition, you’ll learn how specific math skills are used in different aspects of the profession. For example, digitizing medical imageries require knowledge of Geometry and spatial relations in order to get a good CT scan.

The above brochures are in PDF format and can be downloaded free of charge. In fact, you can get a free set of printed copies of the brochures by simply requesting them. The site states multiple set can be requested, but it does not indicate if there is a limit.
