Guiding Light says goodbye

Guiding Light will say its final farewell on September 18, 2009. This is sad news, because of the show’s long history. Unlike other CBS Soaps, (The Young and the Restless & As the World Turns) Guiding Light’s ratings have dipped the past few years. Guiding Light tried to revive their fan base, with new and innovative technology.

Longtime fans couldn’t get use to the new camera affects. Message boards were full of mixed reviews. It’s great that the show was the first to do revolutionary technology; however the effects bothered me greatly. Watching soap operas is almost like watching movies. I like the soft movie effects, after all, its drama. It’s suppose to send your mind to a place of make believe.

In the coming months, I expect to see most storylines come to an end, hopefully a happy ending. Here is some of the latest buzz:

Olivia and Natalia take their friendship to another level. With storylines like Luke & Noah (As the Word Turns) being so successful and controversial, it opens the doors for other soaps to explore. There has been speculation as to whether Olivia and Natalia would actually become a couple. But with Olivia accepting Frank’s proposal, those rumors slowly died. But even Frank’s proposal cannot stop the feelings that Olivia and Natalia share.

In the coming episodes, there will be controversy over baby Henry. His adoption was very rushed, and makes you wonder the reason why. His true identity may be revealed, and the reason for Dinah’s involvement.

I am hoping Jonathan makes an appearance before the show’s end. The last time we saw Jonathan, he had heated argument with Lizzie, and left town. If Jonathan came back, maybe he could knock some sense into Lizzie. Bill is turning out to be more like his father when it comes to love. Since Tammy’s death, Jonathan is forever changed. Tammy would want him to return to Springfield and raise Sara with Lizzie.
