Orchid Gift Ideas for Motherís Day

One of the nicest gifts you can give for Motherís Day is a live orchid plant. Contact Normanís Orchids for a wonderful selection of plants in a wide variety of genera. They have some of the most beautiful Phalaenopsis Iíve ever seen in a wide variety of colors. They also have a monthly service which you can order to provide an orchid a month to your mother.

Here is a more complete listing of my recommended vendors for live plants for easy reference if you want to look for something else:
Andyís Orchids
Carter and Holmes
Miranda Orchids
Normanís Orchids
Oak Hill Gardens
Parkside Orchids Nursery
Tropical Orchid Farm
I have personally purchased plants from all these vendors and know that they provide the best quality plants and great customer service.

A new vendor I found recently is The Garden Pottery. I particularly like the hanging pots they have and received a sample which really impressed me. These pots are particularly nice for displaying and growing indoors.

At a show just last week I met Dawn Vertrees, a jewelry designer who has some wonderful orchid-related items. Her website is Dawn Vertrees. Look down the home page to see her lovely lost wax orchid artistry. She had many other orchid items at the show, so be sure to inquire if you are interested in some kind of orchid you do not see on the website.

Celebrate Orchids offers all kinds of gifts with orchids, from shirts with different flowers to collectible items. Call and ask if you have a collectible that you can't find or that your mother might be interested in.

For the real enthusiast with an adventuresome spirit, Phytotechnology Labs has kits to enable orchid growers to germinate and grow orchid seeds. These kits contain everything that you would need to germinate your seeds with step-by-step instructions.

And in the interest of conservation, a wonderful gift would be a donation to one of the many World Land Trust rainforest areas which protect the native plants, including orchids, as well as wildlife. Another idea would be a membership in the American Orchid Society which includes 12 months of the award-winning magazine Orchids as well as free or discounted admission to botanical gardens and arboreta affiliated with the society.
