Pro-Life Celebrities

Hollywood and the music industry are notoriously pro-choice. It seems that every few weeks one starlet or another is standing on a public platform to champion “women’s rights” and the associated reproductive rights.

Much lesser known are the pro-life celebrities, those that take the career-risking stance against abortion. Here are just a few who take a stand in the name of the unborn:

Hunter Tylo, of Bold and the Beautiful fame, risked her career when she chose not to have an abortion after she was hired to play a vixen on 90’s nighttime soap opera, Melrose Place. She was subsequently fired and successfully sued producer Aaron Spelling for breach of contract, winning $4.8 million.

Patricia Heaton has been outspoken in the quest for women’s reproductive rights and those of their unborn children. She has chaired the pro-life organization, Feminists for Life of America, since 1998. She was prominent in the large sociopolitical campaign, Women Deserve Better, for the organization in 2005.

Kirk Cameron (of Growing Pains and The Way of the Master) and his wife, actress Chelsea Noble are both evangelical Christian and devoted pro-lifers. They have two biological and four adopted children.

Mel Gibson told Barbara Walters that he opposed abortion and birth control, “One can’t decide for himself who comes into this world and who doesn’t. That decision doesn’t belong to us.”

Margaret Colin, of Three Men and a Baby and Independence Day, has been a lifelong pro-life supporter. In 2002, she addressed Congress in remembrance of the millions of lives lost from abortion - both the unborn children and the women who died from complications. She also spoke of the girls and women who had experienced abortion firsthand.

Model Kathy Ireland discovered the truth of life beginning at conception while studying her husband’s medical books. She told Politically Incorrect “at the moment of conception, a life starts.”

These celebrities are just a few of a small number of public figures willing to stand up for life. Be sure to support their causes and encourage those in your community to stand up for the unborn and those that cannot defend themselves.
