Established thirty years ago, Feminists for Life "seeks equality for all human beings and champions the needs of women." This organization has developed local programs that fights all forms of violence including abortion, infanticide, child abuse, domestic violence, assisted suicide, euthanasia and capital punishment, and the exploitation of women and children. They see this work as consistent with the core feminist principles of justice, nonviolence and nondiscrimination.
"Wait, did you just say they oppose abortion?"
Yes. They see their pro-life work as being truly pro-woman. They follow in the pro-life footsteps of early feminists Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and Mary Wollstonecraft.
Feminists for Life is a member of the 1.3 million member National Women's Coalition for Life. The NWCL is an umbrella organization for national women's groups that oppose abortion. Feminists for Life is also aligned with the National Task Force to End Sexual and Domestic Violence Against Women, and the Seamless Garment Network.
There is active support within the entertainment community. Patricia Heaton, the Emmy award winning acress of Everybody Loves Raymond is the Honorary Chair of Feminists for Life. Feminists for Life also has an college campus outreach program. With 20 out of 100 abortions performed on college students it is an important part of the group's mission. "FFL serves as a catalyst for developing resources and progressive solutions for pregnant and parenting students by asking women what they really want - because women deserve better."
