Hello, and welcome back! While it's not raining here (yet), it is gloomy out today, and much more spring-like in the temperatures. I'd like a bit of sun, but I'm much happier with the cooler weather than the horrid, hot days we had two weeks ago. Today's a good day for staying inside and reading. And cooking, maybe. The bread machine is going out in the kitchen, and I'm trying to decide what to make for supper.

But now, I have the latest from Mary Balogh to share with you: At Last Comes Love (Dell). This time, Margaret Huxtable gets her turn at love and marriage. Or marriage, anyway. She's determined not to marry the man who broke her heart many years ago, even though he's now a widower and set on proposing to her. But the man she's turned down several times in recent years suddenly appears, engaged to another when Meg was expecting one more proposal, one she could accept. Enter Duncan Pennethorne, Earl of Sheringford. Duncan has fifteen days to find an acceptable bride or his grandfather will cut him off. But Duncan has a scandalous past as impediment to finding a suitable woman to wed. When they collide at a ball after Meg has already told her old love she's betrothed, it seems a good idea. But Meg insists on courtship. And Duncan shares one of his secrets with her. Both are wary, but it seems as if this might just work out, no matter what anyone else thinks. Until Meg discovers, after their wedding, that Duncan has kept other secrets from her, that he might actually have lied to her. Unfortunately, she's already well on her way to falling in love with her new husband. Duncan, however, is used to keeping his secrets only to himself, and sharing with Meg might force him to also share with others, and he promised someone long ago never to tell that particular secret. Duncan is a charming rogue, and how could Meg not fall in love with him? I've been enjoying this series very, very much, and this one is a delightful addition to the collection. I'm always a little sad to reach the end of one of her books, because the characters are so likable, and the heroes perfectly imperfect. Fortunately, we have brother Stephen Huxtable's story in just a couple weeks (it's actually sitting here on my desk now), and then later this year, cousin Con. I'm borrowing four of Cupid's five arrows for this one. I love Duncan, and Meg is the perfect woman for him, strong and loving, and just stubborn enough for him.
