The Midwife's Glass Slipper

Hello, and welcome back! It's warmed up again here, though we've had rain and showers over the last few days again. But everything looks very pretty and green because of the rain, and the flowers are gorgeous, so I won't complain. Yet. The weeds are flourishing as well, but surely on one of my days off soon there'll be no rain. In the meantime, I've been reading and reading, so I have a lot of May romances to share with you, starting with the latest from Karen Rose Smith.

The Midwife's Glass Slipper (Silhouette Special Edition) is the newest story in her 'Baby Experts' series, and stars midwife Emily Diaz, whose life has changed drastically in the last year or so. She's currently working with obstetrician Jared Madison and rebuilding her life, though not serving as a midwife. Then Jared needs a little assistance with his twin daughters when his mother breaks her hip, and Emily is happy to step in. Trouble is, she could get used to being around his little family, even though she knows better than to hope for more. Plus Jared is her boss, and that's not somewhere she should venture. And Jared is reluctant to trust another woman intimately again after the way his marriage ended, but he can't help thinking how much better his life is with Emily in the personal portion of it. Then there's the attraction that arcs between them. Before his personal emergency, neither would consider acting on it, but now that he's finally opened up his life to her, stopping it is nearly impossible. But Emily's ex turns up and twists things so her past comes to the forefront again, making her wonder if Jared can ever really trust her. Karen Rose Smith is an expert at creating characters with real-life dilemmas, with problems readers will care about, and Emily and Jared's story has some alternately wrenching and exhilarating moments. By the time you get to the end, you'll feel as if Emily is a friend, and you're going to want them to get their happily ever after. I'm borrowing four of Cupid's five arrows for this one.

Until next time, happy reading!
