The tattoo artist picked to do the honors was Arudima Studio's Jun Cha, who specializes in black and white portraiture. Cha commented on the new piece in his blog on May 18th, just two days after Janet's 43rd birthday. The couple has been involved since 2002 but have remained unmarried.
Dupri has several other tattoos including "So So Def," the name of his record company, inked across his back. Jun Cha commented that Dupri has work by some "legendary" tattoo artist and singled out Mike Mahoney for specific mention. The design he asked Cha to create on his right lower ribs was a black and white portrait of Janet Jackson... depicted as the Virgin Mary. The tattoo shows her with robes and her head draped, hands folded with three-quarters of her face clearly showing and it's a very accurate likeness.
Dupri even "twittered" to his fans as he got the tattoo. Apparently Janet walked in part way through the session and was surprised to see her likeness in progress. Only time will tell which lasts longer: the relationship or the tattoo.
