ING New England Golf

This Duramed FUTURES Tour is held on July 17 – 19th at the Wintonbury Hills Golf Course at 206 Terry Plains Road in Bloomfield, CT whose manager is Doug Juhasz. They have a purse of $100,000 which the winner will receive $14,000 with runner-up $10,000. The ING Company is a new sponsor this year. The Wintonbury Hills Golf Course is a Pete Dye championship design with 6,711 yards Par 70 with a combination of open links and tree lined holes to give any golfer a challenge and an enjoyable round.

Professional women’s golf comes to New England when it announced its new sponsor for their Connecticut tour stop. ING is the world’s leading financial companies with a major presence in the Hartford area. Having this company as a multi-year sponsor will be a big boost for the Duramed FUTURES Tour. This is the eleventh years they have been in Connecticut and were happy to add the support of ING and Wintonbury Hills Golf Course to their tour.

The Duramed FUTURES Tour is an official Tour of the LPGA and the only toyur offering a direct path to a career on the LPGA tour. It features 17 tournaments in 14 States with their mission to prepare the world’s best young women professional golfers for a successful career on the LPGA tour.

Last years winner was Vicky Hurst from Melbourne, Florida she won this tournament by 8 strokes over an amateur Natalie Sheary from New Hartford, Conn. Vicky Hurst was a #1 player in 2008 and is now playing with the LPGA tour. These players in the FUTURES tour come from 31 different countries around the world and bring impressive skills and success from all levels of play. They are the best young professional golfers and they represent the next generation of LPGA stars.

With all the FUTURES Tour there always is charity and this group held a Martini Night to raise money in a Silent Auction and ticket sales. Their silent auction raised $3,000 and ticket sales $10,000. With this money that are able to donate Hartford and St. Francis Hospitals. Another charity was “Chip in For A Cure” for the Breast Cancer Health issues and in 2002 they added Teen Health Campaign for an educational campaign for teenage girls for a healthy lifestyle choice. In 2004 was “Bricks Along the Journey” was local artists were recruited to lay bricks salvaged from buildings and transformed into stunning pieces of art. This was a creative way of raising money for charity.

The FUTURES Tour also holds Pro-Ams and the ING event will also hold a Pro-am so volunteers can play a round of golf with one of the Women Professional Golfers. These are fun events but competitive as teams compete in a scramble format for prizes. It includes meals and beverages plus gift bags for every player. Space in these events are scares so you must apply early you will get the great experience to play with an outstanding professional woman golfer.
