Our lives are so very busy. Many of us work, take care of our children, and have many other responsibilities. There are times when people are up at 11:00 pm still doing laundry. It is exhausting.
Many women are very good multi-taskers. However, it is impossible to be super women. Your body needs rest. If you do not slow down and relax, you will end up making yourself sick. You will then not be of any benefit to your children, family, friends or yourself.
Many divorced women feel that they often must "make up" for the lack of a spouse in their lives. Therefore they often push themselves. Striving to be the best you can be is fine, however when you try to do too many things, you often end up not doing anything as well as you would like.
If you slow down a little, it does not mean you are failing. If the house is not perfectly clean or all of the laundry is not always completed, this does not mean you are a failure.
It is important to prioritize your time. Time management is something that eludes many people. We sometimes minimize the time that we need to complete certain tasks. We then refuse to end our day until all of our tasks are complete.
Somehow we delude ourselves into believing that if we go to bed a little bit later, we will not be tired the next day. In my experience, this is not correct. If you do not obtain all the rest your body needs, you can irritable, not focused and not a pleasant person.
The amount of rest needed is different for each person. You know your own body. It is important to listen to it. Remember that you should have some time to unwind before bed. Listening to calming music will often help you to relax. It is also important to try to clear your mind. The tasks that you do not complete will still be there tomorrow.
It is also important to be forgiving to yourself. If you do not complete all the tasks on your list, do not chastise yourself. You are not a failure and you should not measure yourself using these types of criteria.
Feeling good, eating healthy, exercising and resting are keys to well-being.
