Golden Start, Jade, Ruby Cocktail Recipes

Turn your next party into a real jewel. Serve these colorful gem-inspired cocktails to a gathering of fashionistas, to celebrate lottery winnings, or make them your buried treasure at your next pirate-themed cocktail party. Bejewel the bar with these beauties when hosting a party to celebrate the Academy Awards. These Golden Start, Jade, and Ruby cocktails are as lusciously rich in flavor as they are in looks. For added fun, serve them in the prettiest glasses possible.

Golden Start Cocktail Recipe

More than 30 berries, flowers, herbs, and roots go into the secret formula for Galliano, a naturally sweet golden Tuscan liqueur famous for bumping up a Screwdriver into a Harvey Wallbanger.

Use pineapple juice and sugar to frost the rim of a chilled cocktail glass. Into a blender, pour:

2 jiggers Galliano
1 jigger orange juice
1 jigger pineapple juice
1 jigger white or orange curacao (do not use blue curacao)

Blend briefly just to mix ingredients, then add:

1 jigger coconut cream
about a tablespoon of crushed ice

Blend till frothy and serve.

Jade Cocktail Recipe

Emerald-colored creme de menthe turns golden rum a cool, glowing green in this exotic cocktail laced with a refreshing hint of mint.

Put a good handful of ice in a cocktail shaker and add:

2 jiggers golden rum
1/2 teaspoon green creme de menthe
1/2 teaspoon white curacao (not blue, please)
1-1/2 jiggers lime juice
1 teaspoon sugar

Shake till sugar is dissolved, garnish with a lime slice, and serve in a chilled glass.

Ruby Cocktail Recipe

Red wine enjoys a luscious kiss of maraschino cherry liqueur and lemon in this cocktail the color of your favorite lipstick.

Over ice in a cocktail shaker, pour:

2 jiggers red wine, any varietal
1/2 jigger maraschino liqueur
1/2 jigger lemon juice
1 dash Angostura bitters

Shake till cocktail shaker is cold to the touch, strain into a wine glass, and garnish with a slice of lemon.
