Instant Gratification (Brava) by Jill Shalvis is out now, with her second Wilder brother meeting his match. Dr. Emma Sinclair is only in Wishful, California for as long as it takes her doctor father to recuperate. Stone Wilder is just a distraction from the boredom she feels here in the tiny town. The bad boy is frustrating, the way he finds her so amusing and uptight. The way he looks at her like she's the only woman he sees. The only woman he wants. Sure, he's tempting, but Emma wants to get back to New York City. It's her home, and where she really belongs. Still she can't help wishing for a little longer with Stone, once they finally give in to the searing hot attraction they share. Stone, though, is determined to keep her right where she is. He wasn't really looking for a serious relationship, but Emma gets under his skin and right into his heart. As with the previous book in the series, this one is absolutely terrific. When Shalvis sets her focus solely on the relationship of her stories, she is phenomenal. Stone and Emma are a lot of fun, not to mention smoking hot. Then there are the secondary characters along the way, including Emma's friend Spencer and local foodie Serena, whose relationship is a nice addition to the tale. Stone is a great hero, sexy and funny, and willing to be wounded by the woman he loves if it means he gets the happy ending later. I love these stories by Ms. Shalvis, and I hope she continues to do straight contemporary romances for a long, long time to come. This one gets four and a half of Cupid's five arrows.
Until next time, happy reading!
