Help! How can I find time to journal?

Journaling is like anything else in life, if you find it fun and exciting you'll make time to do it. Planning and scheduling time can also be very helpful. Here are some tips that I have found helpful to get you started journaling.

1. Schedule a journaling date. Isn’t it funny when we want to get our hair done, nails or go shopping we always find the time? Well, when we make journaling a fun activity in our life, we will find the time no matter how busy our schedules are. Start with an hour a week, pen it in (don’t use pencil as you might be tempted to change it). Make it a date. Do something fun with your journaling. Maybe go to a coffee shop, cute restaurant, and park and take your journal with you. Let the surroundings inspire you.

2. Include the household. Share with the others in the house the date you have scheduled for journaling. Ask them if they would help you meet this goal and help out in areas that you are struggling with time wise. Or better yet, if you have children, why not include them with their own journals and make it a family event!

3. Time Saving Activity. Take one week and monitor your time. Stick to a strict half hour increments schedule. Write down how you spend time throughout the day. Than at the end of the week do a thorough review of it. Find areas where you are spending your time frivolously and get rid of those activities. It may be chatting with friends, computer, internet, games, whatever, but use this block of time to grab some journaling time. And who knows you might even get a page or two done.

4. What about a family member Grandma and Grandpa live close by? Or some other family members that might be able to help out watching the kids for an hour or two? If so, talk it over with your spouse and than ask away. Now, remember don’t abuse this luxury, but use the time wisely.

5. Hire a Babysitter. You might consider hiring a local teen or someone else local to help you out for a few hours. Than you have the opportunity of going out to journal or staying in. If you stay home be sure to lay the ground rules down, that you are working on a project and don’t want to be disturbed.

6. Turn off the phone Don’t open the door, or answer those emails that are sitting in your inbox. Make a pact to yourself that you will journal first before you allow yourself to do any of these other activities. Things that are not of importance can be time consumers and why not use this time to journal.

7. Get up earlier or Stay up Later. When the house is silent and everyone is sleeping why not rise up early and spend the time journaling? Or stay up later than everyone else once a week and get some journaling time in. You’ll be surprised what you can accomplish when there is golden silence surrounding you.

Now get journaling!
