Lucky in Love

Hello, and welcome back! A little rain last night cooled things down a tad, though itís still warmer than Iíd like, especially since itís officially fall here now. Iím ready for more of those sixty-degree days. But for now, Iíll have to settle for it not being ninety and humid, I guess. More fall-like weather will be here soon enough.

Iíve still been reading the September books like crazy, and Iím on the last of them now, though I have more to share with you before we get to that one. This time out, I have Carolyn Brownís Lucky in Love (Sourcebooks). Rancher Beau Luckadeau is just about to get engaged to the perfect woman, and his life is looking pretty good finally. Until his neighborís granddaughter comes
home to the ranch with a secret sheís shared with absolutely no one. Well, okay, maybe that perfect woman isnít the one heíd really like to spend the rest of his life with, but it seems heís not going to ever find her again, so heíll settle for Amanda. Milli Torres, whoís just returned home to her grandparentsí ranch, should be happy Beau doesnít seem to recognize her from his brotherís wedding two years ago. That should make keeping her secret much easier. But things are never as easy as sheíd like them to be: not only is Beau about to marry the wrong woman, but her daughter takes to Beau far too easily for Milliís liking, and other people around them have figured out her secret with absolutely no effort at all. When Beau discovers just what
her secret is, her life is never going to be the same. Neither Beau nor Milli is very pleasant when this one begins, and Iíll admit to cringing a bit at the dialogue--okay, a lot--which seems both awkward and corny all the way through the book. I know there are people who talk this way, but I donít necessarily want to read it. This pair canít have a civil conversation for very
long, even when theyíre actually getting along. The premise of the story was cute, but the actual reading of it was not nearly as much fun as I expected. Iím hoping I like Beauís brother better in a few months. This one has only earned two and a half of Cupidís five arrows.
