Herbal Recipes for Thanksgiving Turkey

Thanksgiving is around the corner and herbs are a marvelous way to create unforgettable dishes with unique flavors and health benefits. Usually a glorious mahogany turkey with stuffing is the centerpiece of your gorgeous Thanksgiving table. The rich fragrance teases the senses with hints of your favorite herbs.Be careful of using fresh herbs during the cooking process because they can lose flavor and turn an unpleasant color when heated. Fresh herbs in the cavity of the bird are fine because they are to infuse the met not for aesthetic purposes. So be bold and try adding different herbs to old favorites or make one of the following herb enhanced dishes for the pleasure of your family and guests.

Herb Rubs for Turkey


1/2 cup Clarified Butter
1 1/2 teaspoon Thyme (dried)
1 teaspoon Tarragon (dried)
1 tablespoon Rosemary (dried)
1 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper (freshly ground)
  1. Mix together all ingredients and rub 4 Tbsps under turkey skin

  2. Rub the rest of the mixture over the whole bird

  3. Roast as per weight instructions

Fresh Herb Rub


1/4 cup fresh Rosemary sprigs
1/2 cup fresh Sage sprigs
1/4 cup fresh Oregano sprigs
8 tablespoons unsalted Butter
3 tablespoons fresh Thyme and Sage,finely chopped
1 clove crushed Garlic, finely chopped
1 tablespoon Olive Oil
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 teaspoons Freshly Ground Black Pepper
**works with unstuffed bird**
  1. Place fresh herbs into washed cavity of the turkey

  2. Mix together the remaining ingredients

  3. Rub 3 Tbsps of mixture under turkey skin

  4. Rub the Massage the rest of the herb rub on bird

  5. Roast as per turkey weight instructions

Traditional Herb Bread Stuffing


2 loaves Whole Wheat Bread, cubed
3/4 cup Butter, melted
1 small Onion, chopped
5 ribs of Celery, chopped
Salt and Freshly Ground Pepper to taste
2 Tbsps fresh minced Thyme
1 Tbsp fresh minced Rosemary
  1. Mix all ingredients together and stuff in bird

  2. Roast bird as instructed for weight
