I have had a Pampered Chef Apple Peeler, Corer, Slicer for years and I love it. I first saw it at a Pampered Chef demonstration and resolved to buy one. When my children were small it was used almost daily. While apples are good foods to eat, young children donít like to bite directly into one and chopping can be a pain. I solved my problem with the Pampered Chef Slicer. The apple is quickly cored and sliced very thin and can be served peeled or not peeled.
The apple has to be placed exactly right to get the core out correctly, itís not something a child can do, and it took me a while before I got it right. Then the apple peeler can just be rinsed under water and itís clean enough to put away. Iíve had mine for years and it still works as well as the day I got it.
But my children are growing up and they donít need to eat thinly sliced apples any more. Recently I saw the Apple Corer and Divider, which cuts the apple into 8 bite sized pieces while getting the core out at the same time. You place the Apple Chopper above the apple and push down hard. It is very sharp and takes considerable force to cut the apple. Nevertheless when the apple is cut it is appealing to eat, so my children end up eating more apples because they are cut into small pieces, and itís easier to use than a traditional knife and corer. I just leave it in the kitchen on top of the apples in the bowl and it is used almost daily.
I have only recently purchased the Apple Corer and Divider, so I donít know if it will stay sharp for a long time, but right now Iím very happy with my purchase. Have a look below at the products for sale on Amazon.
Disclosure Ė I bought both of these kitchen instruments myself, the Pampered Chef Peeler, Corer, Slicer about 10 years ago and the Apple Corer and Divider about a month ago.
