JavaScript and Java Site and Newsletter

The JavaScript and Java site at BellaOnline covers Java and JavaScript programming, as well as other languages and tools that solve the problem of how to run code in unknown and diverse environments. We also address XML. XML extremely useful with both Java and JavaScript, particularly in AJAX (Asyncronous JavaScript and XML). Additionally, with newer XML standards, such as XSLT and, particularly, Xforms, XML is turning into a solution to this problem on its own as well. This site mainly, but not exclusively, focuses on language fundamentals and knowing which language is the best fit for a given situation. I'm particularly interested in computer security and secure coding, so I will try to use secure coding practices in the examples or specify when they are being left out to make an example clearer. Please feel free to point out any problems that you see or questions you may have. If you have an area of interest that you'd like to see more about, let me know! You may contact me via the forum or the contact form.

The site also has a forum for questions and discussions about these languages. Don't be put off by the fact that it's labeled as the Java forum – it is open for discussion on Java, JavaScript, XML and all related languages and technologies. You can join the discussions on the Java forum.

We also have a weekly email newsletter for the site – Java, JavaScript & XML Notes. The newsletter comes out once a week, usually in the early part of the week. It is in text format, so it is easy to read on any email client, even your cell phone or PDA.

Subscribing to the newsletter is the best way to keep up to date on the latest news and content updates for the Java and JavaScript site. It includes information on the latest article, notes on recent discussions in the forums, and information on any updates to code samples from previous articles. I'm not vain enough to believe I never write buggy code, but hopefully these will be novel improvements more often than they are bug fixes. You also have the opportunity to learn more of the background behind my articles and get exclusive newsletter content.

To subscribe enter your email address in the box at the bottom of the page. We promise to keep your email confidential and use it only to send you the newsletter. If you want to check it out first, see the archive of recent newsletters below.

I look forward to keeping in touch! - Julie
