Hello, and welcome back! The sun is trying to peek through the clouds here, but not having much success. That's okay with me; I have plenty to keep me busy indoors today, like laundry and making dinner. But I'll admit to doing more reading than chores today, and it's a good thing, too: my October stack is still rather tall here on my desk, including some books I'm saving for later in the month. I wonder how many other readers save authors they know they'll love to read after they've read books they're not certain they'll like nearly as well? Or do you all read the ones you know you'll love first and then move to the second tier afterward?

I've got Amy Garvey's latest this time, Christmas Spirit (Zebra). Charlotte, aka Charlie, Prescott is living in the house she inherited from her late aunt, but she's not living there alone. Someone, or rather, something is in residence as well, and she's certain it's a ghost. Reporter Sam Landry has come to write the story about her ghost, but he's not prepared for the intense attraction he feels for the quiet children's writer. Or for the strange things that happen in her house. The one thing he does know, though, is that he's not planning to stay on the island forever, just long enough to get his article written and go home. He can't manage to stay away from Charlie too long, though, no matter what the spirit in her house would like him to do. Charlie's neighbor Lillian is a good friend, but she's keeping some secrets that are hinted at throughout the story. Charlie's ghost is an interesting sort, and it could be that he's inspiring her writing with his own steamy love life in the past. This one is a fun, light read that'll take you no time at all to finish. I liked it a lot (though I still like Room Service best), and chuckled when I got to the end and found the holiday drink recipes. I'm borrowing three and a half of Cupid's five arrows for this one, and looking forward to her next book, whenever that might be.
