Draw a Spider Using Photoshop Custom Shapes

  1. We will use the Liquify Bloat tool to curve the leg. Click Filter - Liquify to open the Liquify dialog box. With the Bloat tool selected, place your mouse on the right side of the leg and hold down the mouse button until the leg is curved the way you want.

  2. Duplicate this layer and name it “Leg2”. Click Edit – Transform – Flip Vertical. This will give us the mirror image of the first leg. Drag the second leg into place next to the body.

  3. Repeat this procedure for Leg3 and Leg4. These two legs should be shorter so let’s just use three ovals.

  4. Repeat again for Leg5 and Leg6. Make these two legs the same length as the first two but rotate and bend these legs toward the back of the spider. To bend the leg in the reverse direction with the Liquify tool, this time we will place the mouse pointer on the left side of the leg.

  5. For the last two legs, which we will put just behind the head of the spider, we want to rotate the legs toward the right until they are almost parallel with the body.

  6. Our final step is to give our spider a mouth. We will use the Polygonal Lasso tool to select a triangular area at the front end of the spider. Go back to the Body layer and draw a triangle. Click Edit – Cut to create the mouth.
