Wedding Guest Colors

I have been receiving a lot of questions lately, regarding customs, traditions and the general role and routines of the wedding day. Also a great number of bridal styling questions. I have decided that with all the common questions I am receiving I will start picking a few questions a week to answer in my articles. This article will be under the subject of The Cinderella Report. This is in addition to my weekly article. I do hope these weekly answers help. Just keep those questions coming.

Here we go with our questions of the week What to wear to a wedding, as a guest? In specific the question I received was about wedding color choices for guests. She had gone out and purchased a dress to wear to a wedding. The dress was purple in color. She stated “she chose purple because she normally wore black, this was a dark color close to her comfort zone”. She then found out the bridal party was dressed in purple as well. So the basic question was, should she still wear the dress, in “purple”? To a wedding were the color was “purple”?

My answer to this question is a simple and resounding “yes” wear the dress. In my philosophy, the only thing you don't want to do on the wedding day, is overshadow the bride. I don't think that wearing the same color as he wedding party is taking away from the brides day. In fact I believe it would enhance the color choice of the day. A simple scattering of the color choice throughout the guests is perfect. So again yes, enjoy the dress.

On that same note, we just put together a wedding in white and black. The male parties to the wedding including the guests, wore black. The females all wore white, guests as well. The bride encouraged the women to wear sequins, diamonds and crystals. It turned out beautifully. It was more for a celebration of uniting friends and family of the bride and groom, than an individual wedding celebrating just the bride and groom. Just some food for thought. Black, white and red.

I hope this has helped a little. Stay tuned for the next Cinderella Report containing answers to your question. Keep asking and I will keep answering. If you don't want to email ask away in the forum. This is Sandra Sable§ signing off for now, till next time. Lets talk Weddings.
