The Boxcar Children - Book Review

The Boxcar Children (The Boxcar Children, No. 1) (Boxcar Children Mysteries) by Gertrude Chandler Warner is an endearing classic childrenís book.

This is book one of a most wonderful series. We meet the four siblings; Henry, Jessie, Violet and baby, Benny.

Their parents have died, and since they heard that their Grandfather who is now their guardian was mean to their mother they donít want any contact with him. On their own, the brothers and sisters decide to avoid the evil relative.

They are able to avoid and escape from their Grandfather. This book finds them at a bakery and later in the woods. In the woods they find a boxcar e which becomes a come to the foursome. At a local dump they find some dishes, cups and silverware. As the oldest, Henry feels the most responsible and becomes a handyman for Dr. Moore.

You will enjoy these books by best-selling American author, Gertrude Chandler Warner who weaves a story of suspense which draws young readers- they want to solve the mystery.

Ms. Warner spins an enchanting story for young and tween readers. The story is captivating and readers want to start the next book almost immediately upon finishing this first edition. The books will become a staple on your bookshelf as they provide a treasure box of escapade and mystery.

Introduce the The Alden Family Mystery books series to your child. They are super chapter books. Let them visit the world inhabitated by Benny, Violet, Jessie and Henry. My children loved the series. They are great for family reading as they can relate to the sibling adventures.
