This time out, I have the latest from Shayla Black, and the last of our November reviews: Possess Me at Midnight (Pocket), also the next installment in her 'Doomsday Brethren' series. This time, witch Sabelle Rion is forced to team up with Ice Rykard, a warrior her brother strongly disapproves of (to put it very mildly) and likely the only one who can save her and her brother from the evil Mathias and his quest to get his hands on the Doomsday Diary. Ice has wanted Sabelle for a long time, and having her so close and still off-limits is torture for the sexy, battle-hardened fighter. But Sabelle has desires of her own beyond keeping the diary safe and reversing the evil that is killing her brother, and at the top of that list is Ice. Even when things turn around for her brother, though, Ice is forbidden, and Sabelle might be forced to take a different mate despite her heart belonging to Ice and his to her. I have been enjoying this series quite a lot. It's got moments of darkness, yet never is it too dark. Nor will you ever doubt the very gripping emotions between these two. It's easy to see why Sabelle would fall in love with Ice, and she's got enough courage to do both what needs doing and what she needs to do for herself. Mathias is easy to dislike throughout, and I look forward to seeing him get what he deserves in a future installment to the series. This one has earned four of Cupid's five arrows.
Until next time, happy reading!
