A Storm of Passion

Hello, and welcome back! We got our first big snow in forever this weekend, and it's absolutely gorgeous! Even better, we're supposed to have more later this week, which makes me very, very happy. Now if only it weren't crazy season at work so I could enjoy our first week of winter a little bit.

This time out, I have the latest from Terri Brisbin, A Storm of Passion (Brava). As a young girl, Moira vowed to wreak vengeance on those who slaughtered her family. Now, six years later, she's finally found her way to the one man ultimately responsible for her family's deaths: Connor the Seer. But Connor seems to have some other magic in him, for he seduces her as no other, and she cannot resist him. Or herself. She does not, however, intend to break her vow, and she returns later to do the job she has set for herself. Her failure puts her in a very bad situation, and only Connor has the power to free her from it. He wants to know why he can't stop thinking about her months later, and even after she's attempted to murder him. And when he learns her story, he needs to set things right, for he believes his time is nearing an end. Moira is hard-hearted; she's had to be to survive on her own while finding out who sent the men who murdered her kin. She can't resist her heart, though, no matter how long she's believed Connor is behind those deaths, and she'll do nearly anything to keep him. This story is not for the faint-hearted. For Brisbin, whose work I have loved for a long, long time, it's a little bit different, and it's absolutely terrific. I enjoyed Moira's inner struggles to reconcile her past with her present and possible future, as she learns the whole truth about her family's murders. And Connor is the best kind of hero, determined to make right things he set in motion and ultimately willing to sacrifice himself to do it for the woman he loves. Even better, this one kicks off a trilogy, and I can't wait to read the next two installments, because if the heroes of those stories are half as amazing as Connor, they'll be fabulous reads. I'm borrowing all five of Cupid's arrows for this one. It's a definite keeper.

Until next time, happy reading!
