Face Painting Books

Patrons seek out face painting books for Halloween, plays, and other activities. Library programs that feature face painting are popular and build good buzz throughout the community.

During the annual Dr. Seuss breakfast one of the featured activities is face painting a simple red fish or blue fish on young hands and faces. At summer programs instead of crafts library pages paint faces in designs that went along with our themes for the day. Face painting books allow amateurs to learn how to create the most popular designs.

Face Painting (Klutz)
When it comes to face painting or balloon twisting Klutz is the number one name. The designs in this book look complicated, but the instructions are simple and easy to learn. The book comes with a basic supply kit of a six-color palette of face paints, a brush, a sponge, and 12 tear-out take-along design cards. If you invest in one book for your library programs make it this one.

The Usborne Book of Face Painting (How to Make)
This book provides instructions on how to transform people into animals, monsters and clowns, or decorate faces with flowers, and other designs. A good book for the general reader and the person looking for quick designs for Halloween or parties.

Face Painting (Kids Can Do It)
Patricia Silver provides step-by-step instructions, clear illustrations and imaginative tips show kids how to create over a dozen popular designs. This is a great addition for your non-fiction. Children can take control and become face painters with this book.

Snazaroo 18 Color Face Painting Wheel for Walk Around Pallet
In preparing to do face painting for library programs I research many, many, many face painting supply kits. All the research pointed to Snazaroo as the source for quality supplies. Many people use tempera or other paints that are not designed for use on the fragile skin of children. This kit meets both the European and United States FDA requirements for safety. The paints last and last, making this kit an economical choice.
