How to Make a Scented Body Oil

I was playing in my kitchen, Again, when I came up with a simple body oil for moisturizing my skin through the bitter winter chill.

Even though it’s cold outside I wanted to come up with a scent that reminded me of a hot summer night.

Whenever I think of a body oil, the first ingredient that comes to mind is jojoba oil. Jojoba oil has been used to treat many skin conditions and disorders for centuries. You can also use jojoba oil in your hair.

But as for your skin, jojoba oil can be used to restore the elasticity and smoothness of your skin, especially for dry and flaky skin. Jojoba will also moisturize and hydrate your skin without greasiness or oiliness. Good stuff!!

The next ingredient I added to my potion was coconut oil. Believe it or not coconut oil is an antioxidant. It’s been known to keep the skin from developing liver spots and other blemishes caused by aging and over exposure to sunlight.

Coconut oil will not only bring temporary relief to your skin but it aids in healing and reparing it. Coconut oil will also help to remove the outer layer of dead skin cells and this will ultimately make your skin feel young and smooth.

The last ingredients I added were essential oils and amber resin. One of the essential oils that I chose was Rose essential oil. Not everyone likes the scent of rose oil but for those of you who do, it is one of the best oils you can use for your skin. I chose Rose absolute which is used in the art of natural perfumery. And this body oil will turn out to be just that, a natural perfume. Rose oil moisturizes, firms, soothes and repairs your skin. It’s great for broken superficial capillaries and is ideal for oily, mature and dry skin.

Amber resin was my choice purely for it’s sensual and intoxicating aroma. Once you apply amber resin to your skin, it will linger on your body for hours.

Every approach I take when creating a natural perfume is done with a specific result in mind. Not only was the thought process behind this creation to scent my body but it was also to moisturize, heal and smooth my skin as well as protect it through the winter elements.

When you combine the elements of the essential oils with the carrier oils of jojoba and coconut, you create for yourself a product that will not only heal your skin but will also intoxicate you with it’s aroma.

My blend consisted of 50% jojoba and 50% coconut oils. Then I added a few drops of rose essential oil and a small piece of amber resin. My blend yielded 8 ounces of pure delight. A body oil that was made for the Goddess.

There are times when I will blend without measuring, I go with the flow and this was one of those times. This is when I typically create the most luxurious and sensual oils for myself. These creations are also the beginning of new meditation times and this is when I go within and release what’s been brewing inside as a new scent.

What’s brewing inside of you as a new scent creation? Listen to your scent Goddess and create what’s been lying dormant inside of you.
