Siggy, the Cockatiel Jigsaw Puzzle

Siggy, the Cockatiel looks proud and very handsome in this picture submited for a jigsaw puzzle by Jackie Turnbull.

As always, you may have to scroll over to get the whole puzzle in your computer window. You can make this harder (or easier) by changing the size and shape of puzzle pieces.

Jackie and her husband Dave are friends of mine and they have given me some information about Siggy that I thought you might enjoy.

Siggy came to live with us sometime in spring 1995. We met him at a now defunct pet store. Siggy has a small ‘hatch’ defect called a scissor beak. The tips of the upper and lower beak do not line up and Sig’s lower beak must be trimmed on a regular basis. This poor soul had been returned to the store, because the people who had originally purchased him were not prepared to clip his beak. He seemed to be extremely lovable, as he sat on the edge of the cockatiel pen and displayed and sang to me with all his energy. He even chased other cockatiels away from me. He is a clever little thing, and I believe that he had decided that I was the one to take him home that day. It worked! We felt sorry for him and took him home. After getting over some initial health problems (intestinal infection) that required veterinary treatment when we bought him home, Siggy is a robust guy who is now 15 years old. He is a good-natured soul, who loves to whistle. He adores his cage mate, Eva, and will call if she is not in his sight. Siggy is named for my husband’s Norwegian Grandfather who was known as Sigurd or Siggy.
