An Eye on Vision Issues Shop

The vision issues shop designed to provide products and Services for all aspects of vision. The shop is a collection of personally used items that help individuals of all ages deal with vision issues and overcome vision loss. Articles describing services and products, which aid the visually disabled when traveling, cooking, telling time, handling money and using the computer and Internet. These products and services help the visually impaired complete daily tasks and maintain the ability to live independently.


I. Books (Braille and Audio), DVD’s and CD’s

Reviews of DVD’s and books (audio, taped and Braille) that inform, entertain and educate both the visually impaired and sighted. Book and DVD reviews discussing the relationships between visually impaired family members and friends.

1. Magenta Gets Glasses Blue’s Clues Child Book Review

Experiencing an eye exam and getting glasses is scary for children. Do you know how the child’s book, “Magenta Gets Glasses” paralleling an episode with the same title from the Blue’s Clues children show makes the experience easier? Also, included is information for viewing a helpful YouTube video.

The book and YouTube video together provide parents of young children facing a visit to the eye doctor for the first time easier. The products explain the ins and outs in a manner appropriate for children from two to four years of age.

Information on websites and organizations/agencies committed to providing professional and personal materials which enhance and develop skills assisting the visually impaired to overcome vision loss.


1. Where can you find narrated movies for the blind?

Where can the visually impaired find narrated movies without ordering? Is a channel of narrated movies and television shows available? Is the Narrative TV Channel easily accessible to the visually impaired? Introduce to a visually affected person the enjoyment of narrated TV shows and movies found on the Narrative TV Network Channel. The Narrative Network Channel presents a variety of entertaining movies posted on the YouTube website.

III. Assistive Technology/Equipment

Technology and equipment that assist a visually impaired person to use a computer or other electronic devices such as talking watches, calculators or recorders. Information on screen reader programs, magnification programs and other forms of assistive technology. A collection of video games, hobbies and crafts are included in this section capable of enriching the lives of the visually impaired.

1. Tel-Time Pyramid Talking Alarm clock Review

What time is it? The visually impaired accomplish finding the time of day differently, most of the time with the aid of a talking product. Talking products assist the visually impaired to complete daily tasks. The Tel-Time Pyramid Talking Alarm Clock is a great example! It’s one of my favorites.
