Stixy Web-based Stixyboards

Stixy is a website that offers a free way to collaborate with family, friends, co-workers and clients. About one year ago, founders Jonas Höglund and Anders Ottoson created this easy-to-use application. It’s free to register at Stixy and create Stixyboards. I found Stixy when I was searching the web for a free, easy way to collaborate with my clients.

Instead of emailing zip files back and forth, I wanted a better way to show proofs to my clients and allow them to give me feedback on what changes they wanted to the project. The features that I was looking for were simple. First, I wanted it to be free, if possible. Secondly, I wanted to be able to upload sample proofs to a password-protected area. Third, I needed a way for the client to login, view the proofs and email me their feedback.

As I searched, I found that most of the websites that offered web-based project management software had complicated scheduling and IM features that I didn’t need. The user interface for most of these applications had a high learning curve and I didn’t want my client to feel intimated or under pressure to learn how to use a complicated software. I was looking for an application that my client could use intuitively and without the need to acquire new skills.

Stixy’s drag and drop widget feature was just what I was looking for. It is easy to use and is very flexible. There is no layout grid to follow and, therefore, you can create a unique Stixyboard for each client or project. All you need to do is drag a widget onto your Stixyboard and place it anywhere you like. These widgets are the way to add notes, photos, images, documents and to-do lists to your Stixyboard. You can rearrange these widgets to match your purpose for the Stixyboard. These widgets can be resized and have several options that can be customized to give each widget a different look.
