Super Bowl Party

Every year millions of Americans get together and tune in to watch the Super Bowl, the biggest football game of the season. Follow these tips to host a successful Superbowl Party!

The Invitation:
-In this case, invitation should be extended over the phone or in person. This party is so casual no formal invite is needed!

The Attire:
-Casual as well. Be sure to dress in your favorite team colors to show your support.

The Decoration:

If fans from both teams will be attending your party, be sure to decorate in both teams’ colors. Divide the room you’ll be watching the game into 2 sections,3 if there will be neutral attendants. Decorate accordingly, using streamers, signs, footballs, and team jerseys. Draw a divider line on the floor with colorful masking tape to separate the territories.

The Party Favor:
-Noisemakers in team colors work well for this active party, as do foam footballs with the name of the favored team painted on the side.

The Activity:
-Since watching the game is the main focus, activity is not required here. However, a pre-bowl quiz game on past super bowl games would be a great way to get everyone in a competitive mood for the game.

The Food:
-Set up a folding table (space permitting) in the room you will be watching the game in. Stock it with plenty of hearty and quick snacks, such as meat and cheese trays, vegetable plates, potato bites, BBQ beef subs, and chip-and-dip combinations. Be sure to stock the area with plenty of iced drinks (both beer and soft drinks) as well as napkins, paper plates, cups, and, if necessary, utensils. Try to stock the area to last until half time, when you can restock without missing anything.

Recipes:

Barbecue Beef Sub:
2 french baguettes
vegetable oil
6lbs beef brisket, cubed
1 bottle dark beer
1 c. ketchup
½ c. apple cider vinegar
½ c brown sugar

In a small bowl, mix 2 1/2 teaspoons salt, 1 1/2 teaspoons black pepper and the cayenne pepper.

Set aside 1/2 teaspoon of the spice mixture. In a large bowl, toss the brisket with the remaining spice mixture.

Working in batches, add the brisket and cook until browned, 8 to 10 minutes. Transfer to a large roasting pan.

Shred the beef and transfer to a large saucepan. Pour the remaining pan juices into a bowl and skim.

In a small saucepan, heat the ketchup, vinegar, brown sugar, mustard and the reserved 1/2 teaspoon spice mixture over medium heat. Stir 1 cup of the ketchup mixture into the beef, setting aside the rest for serving.
