Knock Me for a Loop

Hello, and welcome back! We're in the midst of our second snowstorm in less than a week, and the view out of my office window is absolutely gorgeous. Except for the branch of the neighbor's pine tree that is weighed down very heavily with snow from not only today but our weekend snowstorm and hanging onto a power line. I can tell you I'll be a little cranky if it pulls the wire down, since we called the power company about it yesterday before the snow. On the other hand, I have plenty of tea and hot chocolate we can still make without power, if it comes to that, so we'll be plenty warm indoors.

This time out, I have the latest from Heidi Betts, Knock Me for a Loop (St. Martin's) (received from publisher), the third book in her knitting series. This time, Grace Fisher gets her own yarn from the true love spinning wheel, but Grace is in no mood for romance after catching her fiance with another woman in his bed. Hockey player Zack Hoolihan swears he doesn't know anything about the woman, but Grace breaks off their engagement, along with his truck, his trophies and anything else she can break, then she takes his dog. She doesn't even want to hear his explanations, and finally Zack gives up, as heartbroken as Grace. Then he's seriously injured on the ice, and no one can get through to him. Until his friends sic Grace on him. Grace won't put up with any crap, and, since she thinks she's over him, well, dragging him to physical therapy and cracking the whip won't be any problem at all. Except she might not be as over him as she thought. And Zack isn't going to give up his woman again without a fight. But while Grace's heart quickly gets tangled up with Zack again, she can't quite trust him, or herself, which will put a real damper on a permanent reunion. I have loved this series since the first book, and this one is absolutely terrific. Zack is a rogue of the first order and irresistible, as Grace will find out. This one will make you laugh and cry, and that's before the steam kicks in. If you haven't started on this series yet, get to your bookstore and pick up all three! I'm giving this one four and a half of Cupid's five arrows. And waiting impatiently for Ms. Betts's next book.

Until next time, happy reading!
