Mother's Day Gifts for 2010

When moms are flower lovers there are many kinds of suitable gifts for Mother’s Day.

For floral designers with cutting gardens a pair of Mud Gloves is just the thing. For hot climates choose Cool Mud Gloves. These are the most comfortable gardening gloves you’ll find. They’ll keep your hands clean, dry, and cool while you work in the cutting garden.

Flower lovers always welcome floral design supplies and tools. Create a lovely gift basket containing some assorted floral design aids that can be used throughout the year.

A flower press comes in handy. These allow floral designers to harvest and preserve everlastings and foliage for special floral design projects. Both large and small flower presses are available.

A large tub of fresh flower preservative is a useful gift for moms who are floral designers. The Crystal Clear brand is especially made for clear vases and it doesn’t cloud the water.

I especially recommend Floral Floats. These are handy green colored cork rings. They’re used when displaying floating flowers in bowls of water. These prevent the blossoms from sinking into the water or turning on their side. Both large and small diameter Floral Floats are available.

For mothers who have a cutting garden nothing beats some flower seeds from Renee’s Garden. These premium quality seed packets are available from leading garden centers and online at Renee’s website. Choose a variety of seeds and create a lovely gift basket for Mother’s Day.

For those with limited garden space, Jack and Jill sweet peas seeds from Renee’s would make a great gift. These are only three feet tall, and feature lovely medium blue and salmon-rose, sweetly fragrant blossoms that are perfect for cutting.

Floral designers can never have enough larkspur stems for cutting. For that reason I recommend Renee’s Bouquet larkspur Singing the Blues seed mix. This is new for 2010. The lovely double flowers are early flowering. The mix includes a variety of different shades, including whites and several blues along with a lovely violet.

Those with cutting gardens would also like to receive seeds of other cut flower varieties. Renee’s is offering several new ones, including Cosmos Double Rose Bon Bon. This variety will produce lots of stems for cutting throughout the summer. The frilly double blooms are rose colored.

I also recommend a new pom pom hollyhock from Renee’s for Mother’s Day. Apricot-Peach Parfait is great for cutting gardens. The frilly blossoms are wonderfully double, and appear on sturdy stalks five feet or more in height. The appealing pastel colors include rosy-peach and apricot.

For 2010 Galison has added a number of new stationary items that are suitable for flower lovers. The Songbirds Sticky Notes are especially appealing. These depict an assortment of perky bluebirds perching on whimsical flowers of different sorts. These allow flower lovers to add a touch of elegance to their messages. The set comes in a beautifully decorated portfolio. The set includes eight designs with sixty of each for a total of 480 stickers in assorted sizes.

Galison’s Everyday Journals also make great Mother’s Day gifts for flower lovers. I especially recommend Songbirds, a new design for 2010. This is adorned with irresistible bluebirds flitting among whimsical flowers in assorted colors. The Everyday Journal has a flexible hardcover and contains 160 lined pages. This measures 7¼ by 5½ inches. The sturdy flexible sewn binding allows the journal to open flat.

For spring 2010 Galison has introduced several new designs that will appeal to flower lovers. Little Blue Birds depicts cute birds on a floral background with lovely rose colored blooms and foliage in different shades of green.

For disclosure purposes, I acknowledge that I received free samples of two products from Galison and sample seeds from Renee’s for evaluation purposes.
