Secrets of Sin

Hello, and welcome back! Much of our snow from those two big storms earlier in the month has melted, but we may just get a little more snow later this week. We'll see. I've been enjoying my time indoors, while hoping that my former boss hurries up and makes me a spot in his new store. But being home has given me plenty of reading and writing time, which I missed very much the last few months.

This time out I have Chloe Harris's Secrets of Sin (Aphrodisia) to share with you. Emiline du Ronde-Barhydt has had enough of an errant husband and visits a lawyer to draw up divorce papers. Now she just has to wait for her voyaging husband to return to their island home. Reinier Barhydt left their home several years ago and abandoned his young bride after overhearing something that hurt his male pride. But now he's heard a rumor that his wife may be cuckolding him, which sends him home to remind her just who is in charge. When he learns of her desire to divorce him, he agrees, under one condition: that she spend three days obeying his every sensual whim. Emiline cannot say no if she wants to be free of the man who broke her heart once already. She simply needs to be sure that her heart stays out of the equation this time. But Reinier is a tempting husband, teaching her new ways of pleasure, and he is simply too much for her to resist emotionally. But neither really understands the other. They will hurt one another again if their past misunderstanding isn't cleared up before he signs the papers and sails away one final time. I'm afraid Reinier didn't appeal to me, as our first introduction to him is in a brothel with his best friend, trying to train a new whore for the madam. And Emiline falls far too easily for a woman bound to be permanently separated from the man. Then there is the far too easy resolution of their issues at the end. If you're reading for good romance, skip this one. If you simply want a book filled with lots of sex, you might enjoy this one. As a romance, this one earns only two of Cupid's five arrows.

Until next time, happy reading!
