Between the Sheets

Hello, and welcome back! The old snow is dirty and ugly here as it's melting. I'm hoping the forecast is right for our new snow later this week, which will recover this ugly melted mess. In the meantime, I've been busy reading and have several books waiting to share with you. I've also had lot of writing time, which makes me very happy, as I'm nearing the end of a first draft on my new work-in-progress. I should be able to start revisions on it before my boss has a new spot ready for me.

This time out, I have the latest from P. J. Mellor, Between the Sheets (Aphrodisia), a trio of new erotic novellas. In 'Redd Hot', real estate agent Andrea Redd is determined to sell a beach house to her new client Connor O'Brian, and he's equally determined to get her into bed even though neither is the other's usual type. Andrea is pretty wishy-washy about the whole thing, and then there is her brilliant idea to sell him a house in exchange for hot sex. The whole thing turned me right off. 'Just Right' has Ashley Clark turning to her best buddy Daryl Garrett when his best friend ends his engagement to her. Daryl has been in love with Ashley for years, but she's never noticed. (And it's likely his own fault for enabling her poor choices in men.) This time is a little different, though: they agree to a vacation of sex, and Daryl is determined to win her this time, for good. Ashley, however, is a little slower on the uptake, and she makes misstep after misstep, though Daryl is no prize either. For a guy who's a psychiatrist, he's incredibly dense about making the right moves and saying the right things. Then 'Stroke of Midnight' has diver Beth Simpson hooking up with the sexy stranger she meets after her dive job is canceled. Will King has a 'no tourists' rule, but when he and Beth meet during a dive, he's willing to break that rule, at least for a little while. But Will thinks Beth owns the boat she's staying on, and Beth thinks he's more of a beach bum than a a businessman. So while they're busy getting busy, neither can quite find the right moment to tell the truth. All in all, this was a disappointing trio, with heroines who aren't very likeable, and heroes who're not much better. This one is definitely not a keeper.

Until next time, happy reading!
