Pleasure of a Dark Prince

Hello, and welcome back! It looks like my snow is melting and we won't be getting anymore to replace it. If that's the case, bring on the spring! I'd much rather look at the daffodils and tulips than the mud. On the other hand, it's still not warm enough to spend my reading tie outside, but that's okay. The review stack is still pretty plentiful right now.

This time out, I have the latest from Kresley Cole, Pleasure of a Dark Prince, seventh in her 'Immortals After Dark' series, which I picked up the day it was released. In this one, we get Garreth MacRieve, Lykae Prince, meeting his Mate in the Valkyrie archer Lucia the Huntress. Despite the attraction that flares between them when they first meet, Lucia can't give in to it, as her life as 'the Archer' depends on her chastity. For Garreth, it's torture not to Claim his Mate, and he follows her endlessly, tempting her, teasing her, and setting off enough heat and sparks to ignite a serious blaze wherever they are. They have to work together in the Amazon, where Lucia is hunting a tool to destroy the monster who claimed her as his wife a millennia ago, and nearly killed her. Garreth is bent on claiming what's his, and he'll continue to tempt her until she gives in. Garreth's cousin Bowen is still my favorite, favorite of Ms. Cole's sexy immortal heroes, but I really, really enjoyed Garreth. He is absolutely delicious, determined and devoted to his one task: Claiming his Mate. Of course, he'll also keep her safe from anything else that might cause her harm, or even try to take on her own planned assignment, just to keep her protected. Lucia is a strong heroine, determined to fulfill her plans, but resisting Garreth is impossible. What woman could resist a man who needs her that much? Not me, and I think not many other fans of this series. So much is happening in this one, but the romance never, ever takes a back seat to the rest of the story. I hope the next book is not long in coming. I'm borrowing four and a half of Cupid's five arrows for this one, mostly for Garreth, who is a truly fantastic hero.

Until next time, happy reading!
