Keep America Beautiful Month. The KAB organization is dedicated to keeping America clean and litter-free. Litter affect everyone directly or indirectly, decreased property values and health issues are among these issues. Do your part by keeping your neighborhood clean of litter. National Financial Literacy Month. "MyMoney.gov is the U.S. government's website dedicated to teaching all Americans the basics about financial education. National Park Week, April 17-25. America’s national parks are examples of our magnificent natural landscapes and our varied yet interrelated heritage. Parks provide recreation, exercise, opportunities to learn and grow, and places of quiet refuge. Take time this month to visit a national park near you. Astronomy Week, April 19-25. Conceived to bring sstronomy to the people. Astronomy clubs, science museums, observatories, universities, planetariums, laboratories, libraries, and nature centers host special events and activities to acquaint peopl with local astronomical resources and facilities. Check with a nearby museum or your local library to see if they are having special programs and events.

Easter, April 4. Always on Sunday. A Christian celebration of the resurrection of Jesus after his crucifixion, generally considered to have occurred between A.D. 26 and A.D. 33.

World Parkinson’s Disease Day, April 11. The birthday of Dr. James Parkinson (1755-1824), who first described the disease in his paper, “An Essay on the Shaking Palsy.” Parkinson’s Disease is a disabling neurological disorder that can dramatically affect a patient’s ability to walk, talk, write, and swallow.

Take Our Daughters And Sons to Work Day, April 22*. Exposing children to what their parents or mentors do all day shows them the value of education, helps them discover the power and possibilities associated with a balanced work and family life, and provides them with an opportunity to share how they see their future. *When I originally wrote an article about this day a few years back, this important day was April 24. I did some searching and found a site showing April 29 as Take Our Daughters And Sons to Work Day. Despite the range of dates, this is an excellent idea that has become widely accepted and grown to include taking our sons to work. http://www.daughtersandsonstowork.org/
