An Interclub with Star Ranch

I have been working on an Interclub Exchange with a lady golfer I met one day when I was playing golf with my grandsons at Star Ranch at Hutto, TX. We visited briefly that day but I asked for her email address and a friendship started. I had asked her to be my guest at our Member/Guest last year and the idea of an exchange between our two clubs took shape.

I brought this idea up at our first board meeting in February and they approved so went ahead with the plans. After checking with Jacque Ward the Star Ranch player we worked out the statistics of how we would play this and the dates. My co-chairman Janet Gravette of tournaments and I thought April would be the best month to hold this. After several emails to Jacque the dates came down to April 13 at Star Ranch and on April 14 they would come to Mill Creek.

We agreed that no matter how many gals we had playing we would take the four top best scores minus handicaps of each club on the first day and total them with the four best score of the second day. Which ever golf club came out with the total lowest score of the two days they would receive a traveling trophy to keep for a year until the next event.

I did some research for trophies to find one that would symbolize both our clubs. The one I found has a colorful center with a driver and ball this is surrounded by a metal looking star. Behind this is a ribbon of metal that look like it could be a bridge over our Creek. I showed it to Janet before I ordered it and she thought it would be perfect. I ordered this and had it engraved with Star Ranch/Mill Creek – Interclub Tournament. When it arrived I sent a picture of it to Jacque and she thought it would work fine.

I had posted a flyer with sign up sheet for our gals who were interested in this exchange and we have nine gals who will be traveling to Star Ranch next Tuesday. I sent Jacque all the names and the handicaps so will wait until she sends me the names and handicaps of the gals who will be coming here the next day. It should be a fun time and a chance to get better acquainted with gals from this club.

We do not plan to charge too much only enough for a lunch afterwards. I did make some shoe charms with metal red hearts from the Heart of Texas our special golf hole. I am working with our lunch gal so it should be a good event. We are now hoping that the weather will hold out and be fair and warm. I will give you a full report after it is over with pictures.
