How to use Oatmeal in Skincare

Oatmeal, (avena sativa kernel) meal is a coarse meal obtained by grinding the kernels of oats. It is classified as a biological product and is used as a bulking agent and absorbent. The benefits of oatmeal come from its ability to hold moisturizers on the skin. It creates barrier that soothes and protect the skin.

Oatmeal baths products are very beneficial for every skin type but are most healing for dry, irritated skin. It acts as a natural cleanser, softens and moisturizers the skin. Colloidal oatmeal is simply oats grounded to a fine powder. It is recommended for temporary relief of chickenpox, eczema, insect bites and other skin irritations.

Uses:
Oatmeal foot soak
Ingredients: Oatmeal, sea salt, sodium bicarbonate
Directions - ground rolled oats to a fine powder in coffee grinder or blender. Combine with sea salt and add no more than 0.5% essential oils. Add it to warm water for a moisturizing and soothing foot bath.

Oatmeal with honey mask
Ingredients: 2 tablespoons yogurt, 2 tablespoons honey, 1/4 cup grounded oatmeal.
Directions - Mix into a paste. Use immediately or refrigerate for 1 week. Honey will soften and condition the skin. Yogurt contains lactic acid and zinc; the lactic acid smooths skin while the zinc helps clear blemishes and pimples.

Oatmeal scrub - will make nice non leaking scrub with great wash off
Ingredients: 1/2 cup oats, 1/2 cup Granulated sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup sea salt fine, 1/4 cup olive oil and 1/4 cup shea butter, 1/2 cup ground oatmeal, 2 tablespoons e-wax
Directions -
Dry Phase:
Ground 1/2 crolled oats to fine powder (using different textures is great for a scrub). Combine with sugars and salt.
Wet Phase:
Melt e-wax with olive oil and add to shea butter. Mix until creamy. Combine wet and dry phase ingredients together, scent or add essential oils, bottle in a large jar. Makes over 2 cups of scrub.

Oatmeal Soap Crunch - Makes a super rich oatmeal crunch bar.
Ingredients: 50% Olive oil, 30% Palm Oil, 15% Coconut oil, 5% Cocoa butter, 10-20% powdered Oatmeal.
Directions- 10-20% powdered oats, add at light trace. If added at heavy trace it tends to crack, use 6% lye discount.
