This time out, I have the latest from Rita Herron, Forbidden Passion (Grand Central, received from publisher), the next in what is becoming one of my favorite paranormal series. This time, demon brother Dante Valtrez is doing his best to protect Dr. Marlena Bender, whose life he saved already when she was only a child. It appears a serial killer has targeted her, but it may well be the same evil that has been trying to finish Dante for many years. Sheriff Dante knows his demon blood makes him a danger to Marlena, but he can't help wanting her all the same, and neither of them can resist the strong attraction that flares between them. Still, the danger only grows by the day, with the evil spreading, killing more innocent people along the way, and the danger to Marlena is worse than she could possibly have imagined. Dante is an absolutely flawed hero, and the beauty of him is that he knows his flaws and still does his best to refute them by doing good. He's sexy and brooding, though not too much so, and how any woman could resist a man like that, I simply don't know. He's nearly a perfect romance hero. Marlena is no weakling either, spirited, though still horrified by the things happening around her. And when she finally learns the biggest secret Dante's been keeping from her, it may kill the love she feels for him. I have quite enjoyed this series and sincerely hope that Ms. Herron continues to write more stories like the Valtrez brothers. I'm borrowing four and a half of Cupid's five arrows for this one. I was very sad to reach the end of this one.
Until next time, happy reading!
