First Synthetic Living Cell

From decades scientists are trying to invent synthetic living cell. At last scientists of USA invented the artificial cell. The news has been published in BBC, Guardian, Fox news online. a team of scientists of "J Craig Venter Institute" researched for about fifteen years and invented this living organism. This project took approximately forty million $dollar .

At first they designed genomes in a computer, that is, a model of an artificial gene of a bacteria. Then they transplanted it inside a blank cell of a bacteria. It was assembled in a lab in a donor cell and they found life in it, an artificial life.

To achieve this they created an artificial chromosome. Researchers transplanted the synthetic genome into a cell of a bacterium whose own genome was emptied before. Once the DNA started to work, the bacteria began to function and reproduce naturally. The team said that they have observed that this synthetic cell is reproducing fully functional living creatures and these new bacteria has got the artificial DNA, that is, artificial life.

The researchers inserted four sequences of DNA to distinguish between natural and artificial cell. The code they contain is a code given by the computer program. The code translates DNA into English letters and punctuation. After translating the code the names of forty six researchers who assisted in this project, quotations from J. Robert Oppenheimer, James Joyce, and physicist Richard Feynman and a link to email will be found. The URL to e-mail has been given in case if any one deciphers the code.

The leader of that team of scientists said that this is the first chemical synthetic cell in the world. They also said that it will be helpful to make medicine, biofuels, vaccines, pharmaceuticals, clean water projects and food products.

Critics say that through this human civilization can be destroyed and genetic weapon will be made. Every invention has both negative and positive sides, let's hope that the knowledge gained from this invention will be used for the betterment of the world.
