Summer has been steamy, but hold on to your makeup brushes ladies, because Fall is about to get hotter... No, I'm not talking about Global Warming- I'm talking about the Fall 2012 Makeup Trends! Prepare yourselves for exciting eyes, glowing cheeks and luscious lips.
Whether it's date night or a long day at the office, the "Fresh Face" look is a Fall failsafe. This look is very natural and radiant. To achieve a "barely there" effect, I recommend prepping the skin by exfoliating and using a moisturizer that suits your unique needs. Everyone is different, but every skin type benefits from exfoliation and the proper. After priming, apply a light weight foundation or a tinted moisturizer. Finish the look with a soft lip and a natural, flushed cheek.
Two trendy ways for you to freshen up your kisser: "Wine-dipped" lip and a classy lip stain. The first look is inspired by the red wines of Autumn. Try a malbec-esque shade with a deep, dark purple tone. You can also go for a deeper cabernet shade, think of a cross between a deep red and rich purple, or a burgundy hue. To create a long-lasting stained lip, use a smudging tool, lip brush or finger to compress color into the lips. Leave lips matte or add some shine for a glossy finish.
And now to end your suspense...All About Eyes! Indulge your peepers with the season's hottest shadow styles. First is a modern twist on a classic look: the smokey eye. Trade out your trusty black shadow (gasp!) for browns or purples instead. Use varying shades of the same color to achieve more depth and dimension. Next, multi-toned, bright & bold and futuristic eyes. For multi-toned eyes, go wild with gem tones to create glimmering looks with greens, purples and blues. Bright and bold eyes will get a kick by using a liquid enhancer. As for futuristic eyes...well, this is your free pass to experiment- just don't poke an eye out! Try a dark liner with some intense color and extend it beyond the outer corners of the eyes. A soft cat-eye is also a Fall 2012 makeup trend. This could be described as a cross between a traditional cat-eye and a smokey eye. Do this by lightly smudging your eyeliner once you've drawn on your wingtip. You can also add drama to your eyes by creating pronounced eyebrows. Extra definition will create a stronger look. Finally, bigger is better when it comes to lashes. Voluptuous lashes are (always) where it's at. The goal is to create thick and defined lashes from root to tip; you want to unleash a lash explosion! You can also experiment with false lashes, or for a more permanent option a lash growing product. I will warn you, if considering a lash growing product- Do Your Research First! Some products can have side effects.
In my experience, most people fall into one of three categories: Trailblazers, On-trend, or Behind the Times. While there is a place for everyone, I'd prefer not to see you fall into that latter category. Take these tips and find a way to adapt them to suit your lifestyle. Makeup washes off, so don't be afraid to play!
