Healing Childhood

Something I have learned in life, is that most people have not had a healthy childhood. There is a small percentage of really lucky people on earth that look back on their childhood with fondness. But I think for most people, they look back with some amount of pain. Childhood for most of us, is something we spend our entire lives trying to make sense of and heal.

When you think about it logically, childhood is a very vulnerable time in ones life. It is only normal that a child be dependent upon adults and not in control of their own life. This in itself leads to negative feelings and memories. This is especially true if the adults who were supposed to take care of and love their children did not do this.

Keep in mind that most parents do the best they can to raise their children. I believe this. Also keep in mind that this is just the opinion of one person. It may be true for you and it may not be.

The important thing with childhood is not to keep looking back or blaming. That is self defeating. It's better to look forward and think what can I do to make this better for me, and for any child in my life. This is truly the path to healing and feeling better.

I believe that as adults we can heal our own childhood by doing things differently. For example, if you grew up without much love and support, you can give your own children or any child in your life, endless love affection and support. If you were never told how good, smart, funny, beautiful you were, you can tell a child all these good things and more.

If you grew up without security, you can give your child a secure life. If you were yelled at and hit a lot as a kid, you won't yell or hit your children but instead learn new ways of coping and dealing with life. You are the key factor for change and you can do anything in life that you wish.

Doing things differently, is a way of turning things around, healing the bad with the good, replacing negative energy with positive energy.

Take a moment to think of a child or the children in your life. How can you help them to have a better childhood? How can you give a child in your life all the good things you never had? How can you give this child all the good they deserve for their life? How can you give yourself all the good things you have wanted and needed?

Understand that this is a healing process that will help you and the children in your life to feel loved and secure. Giving a child in your life a loving childhood, and healing your own in the process is very real and possible.
