This time out, I have the latest from Christie Craig, Shut Up and Kiss Me (LoveSpell, received from publisher). Ms. Craig is one of those authors I would buy if I didn't get the book with my review copies, and this one is definitely worth a trip to the bookstore. Shala Winters has gone to the tiny town of Precious, Texas for her latest job: to make the town more tourist-friendly. That will be a challenge, as, during a Native American ceremony she's gone to see, her camera is stolen by the sexiest, and most infuriating man she's ever had the misfortune not to have met. And when she does really meet him, he's not exactly what she expected. Sky Gomez may not have blood family in the little town, but his foster family has deep roots there, and he'll do everything he can to protect them. He never figured on Shala, though, and her determination to do her job. He also didn't expect someone dangerous to follow her around his town, wreaking havoc. This series-starter is full of great characters, some funny, some emotionally touching. Sky is a fantastic hero, strong and sexy, with a family he adores, and with a great sense of humor and honor. Shala is also terrific, equally strong, though her resistance to Sky might just be her downfall, especially since the small-town police chief isn't interested in a long-term relationship. Until Shala, anyway. There were parts of this one that had me laughing out loud, and other parts that made me laugh until I cried. The suspense angle is a nice twist, but the real focus here is on the characters and those around them, which is really amazing. I may not have been a Craig fan from the beginning, but when she hooked me with Weddings Can Be Murder, I've been a fan since, and this one is the funniest thing she's ever written, hands down. I can't wait to get my hands on the next story in the series. I'm borrowing all five of Cupid's arrows for this one. It's definitely a keeper.
