It may be too hot and humid to jump around and dance to the music, but these classic summer musicals may have you, at the very least, forgetting about the heat as you tap your feet to the tunes of these films. Here, we have chosen, our top three lovable classic Summer Musicals:

1. Beach Blanket Bingo (1965). This fifth ‘beach party’ installment, starring Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon, follows the gang get caught up in the wild publicity stunts and charming disposition of rising pop sensation "Sugar Kane" (played by Linda Evans). Meanwhile, "Bonehead" (formerly known as "Deadhead" in the previous "beach party" films) falls in love with a mermaid. And no beach party film could not be complete without a villain. Eric Von Zipper, played by Harvey Lembeck, becomes infatuated with Sugar, and with the help of his Malibu Rat Pack biker gang try to kidnap the beautiful blonde singer. As you do the twist to this eccentric motion picture try to catch the cameos by the great comics Paul Lynde, Don Rickles, and Buster Keaton.

2. Grease (1978) stars the talented cast of John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John, Stockard Channing and Jeff Conway. This summer blockbuster, with all of its crooning tunes and hip-swinging dance moves, will be the one you’ll want to watch this summer! Danny Zuko, leader of the “T-Birds” gang, falls head over heels for the wholesome Australian Sandy Olson over summer break. After believing his sweetheart will return to her home country for the next school year, Zuko is stunned when she shows up at his local high school. Their reunion, at first is anything but easy, as Zuko tries to retain his studly reputation, and the goody-two shoes Sandy struggles to fit in with her new gal group, “Pink Ladies”. But, through make-ups and break-ups, dancing and singing, the cutie duet fly off into the sunset together. When you watch the film and fall in love with all the hip songs, try to think about how different the movie would be if the opening title song “Grease,” “Summer Lovin” or “You’re The One That I Want” was cut from the film. If director Randal Kleiser had his way, they might have ended up on the cutting room floor because he detested them so much.

3. "Singin' In The Rain" (1952) starring Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds, Donald O'Connor and Jean Hagen. This film is shot in luscious Technicolor as we are transported back to 1928, the year when Hollywood was forced to say goodbye to the "silents" and say "hello" to the "talkies." When it could have been a dark drama about many careers ending as a result of the sound of their voices, "Singin' In The Rain" turns this important period in time into a light-hearted comedy. The film is about the successful silent film actor Don Lockwood (Kelly) who is caught in a bind when his leading lady Lina Lamont (Hagen) is struck with a case of unbearable voice and speech. Enter the young, talented and unknown actress Kathy Selden (Reynolds) to dub her voice and Lockwood's singer-songwriter friend to write a show-stopping musical called "The Dueling Cavalier."
