Don't settle for an infrared or 900mhz wireless controller. After playing with this new 2.4 GHz system, I would NEVER play with another one.
We have three systems hooked up to our TV - a PS2, a GameCube and an XBox, plus we own a N64 and an original PlayStation. You might imagine that there are wires everywhere!! We've tried many, many wireless solutions and they've all failed miserably. We were therefore THRILLED to find that the new 2.4 GHz Logitec system was amazingly good.
Our PS2 system is off to the side, and we plugged the base unit in right on top. The actual transmitter is smaller than a pack of cigarettes. The controller is slightly bigger and heavier than a regular controller - it holds 4 AA batteries - but it's not too bad. And it WORKS! We first tested the system out on the new 007 Nightfire game. That's not a game that would tolerate slow response time or jerky controls. It was flawless. No matter which way we were twisting and turning the controller, even laying on our backs and pointing it at the ceiling as we played, it worked perfectly.
I know that most people that own gaming systems complain about the cable mess, and also that it's a pain to have wires draped across tables and getting yanked out by feet. This wireless controller makes everything SO much easier. You plunk the controller down on the table, can pass it to friends to take turns, wander around the room, and nobody is tripping and falling.
Batteries last around 50 hours of gameplay, so just get rechargeables and swap them out when you wear them down. Swapping batteries is nothing compared to the great freedom from wire mess that you gain.
Highly, highly recommended for ANY PS2 owner out there. I love this thing. It works with the original PlayStation and PS One as well. Now I can only hope they come out with one for the GameCube and XBox!!
