Popcorn Strings for Birds

One wintertime favorite for the birds is popcorn strings. Be sure to make some for your feathered friends!

The basics are simple. Cook up some popcorn, whatever type you have around. Now sit down with family and friends, some needles and thread. Start threading the thread through the popcorn! You can make nice long series of popcorn to go around bushes and trees in your yard - it'll be pretty while they last, and a treat for the birds too.

You can also decorate your own tree with these popcorn threads, and then when you're done with it for the year, it'll be a treat for the birds too. They won't mind that it's a bit stale :)

For added variety, roll the popcorn in oil and then roll it in sesame seeds, bird seed, or breadbrumbs. You can also alternate the popcorn with cranberries for a touch of color.
