Michelle Wie Wins

This week at the Canadian Open Michelle Wie had her game together and won it going away from the first day. She started out strong the first round with a Hole-in-one which would give a boost to any golfer. She was the strongest player of the field and carried her lead all the way to Sunday. It was great to watch her concentrate on every shot on Sunday as it started out she was tied with Jayai Shin with 10 under. I have been fascinated with Shin being a short stocky player she does know how to play. I know she has been out with an appendectomy a few months ago so has missed playing for a few weeks. I was surprised to see her back so soon but she also is a fighter and a good player.

Michelle was able to move ahead of Shin during the round today after making some remarkable shots and Jayai missed a few putts and found her other shots catching some rough. Michelle was up to 13 under to Shin’s 9 under when Michelle missed a putt on the 17th hole to move her to 12 under. All she had to do was keep her ball in play and she had a chance for a birdie on the 18th hole but it lipped out with her win at 12 under.

This brought her friends from the LPGA out on the 18th green as Christina Kim showered her with champagne. It was a good week for Michelle and I enjoyed watching her play. She has put her game together and I am sure we will see more of her in the winning circle. I wish her all the best as it has been a long struggle for her as I believe she was brought to the National golfing stage far too early and playing against the men. She is back where she belongs and I am sure we will see her win more often.

It was a strange sight to see Michelle and Shin playing together as Michelle is so tall and Shin is short it was the Mutt and Jeff of Ladies Golf. Both are great golfers it just goes to prove that any type of person can play this game it is just that they are so much better than the rest of us. Size does not matter it is the natural talent to perfect the swing that goes with your body build. We all have different bodies so work on the swing that suits you and how your body was made. Watching both Michelle and Shin both have different swings as it showed but they both power through the ball and that is what makes them great golfers. They also have good finesse around the greens and concentration over the putts as it showed during this tournament.
