I've finished reading through the August releases, though I have a few more to share with you, starting with the latest from Cherry Adair, Black Magic (Pocket, received from publisher). This time out, Sara Temple finds herself with a very reluctant rescuer just in the nick of time. Jackson Slater used to be her fiance, until he believed the worst of her exactly when she needed him the most. Jack is not very happy to be back in Sara's company, though he might grudgingly admit to himself that he still finds her appealing. But the whole reason for her needing rescue is that something the wizard world has long believed to be just a myth is, in actuality, very real and very dangerous to their entire existence, not to mention all the humans in the world, so Jack and Sara are forced to team up to find out what's going on. Sara's best friend and business partner, Grant, is really not happy that Jack has arrived on the scene, but Jack doesn't care about Grant's feelings. Something evil is very nearby, and it seems the only way to survive it is to stick close to Sara, as their magic works best when they're together. Jack and Sara strike serious sparks even when they're both still wounded from their past, though that past wound is a major one that will require a lot of trust to heal. I've enjoyed Ms. Adair's work previously, and this is a great addition to her collection of suspense and paranormal romances. Jack and Sara as a team are unbeatable, not to mention smoking hot. And finding out exactly what caused their prior break-up will allow them to really have a future. Once they defeat this mythical evil, that is. This was so much fun, I hated to reach the end. But I'm looking forward to whatever Ms. Adair has for us next. This one's earned four of Cupid's five arrows.
Until next time, happy reading!
