Close Quarters

Hello, and welcome back! I've been busy reading, despite working regularly and even fitting in some writing time lately. I've only got a couple more September releases to share with you, though I have some that I read that didn't merit full reviews listed over in the forum, as I do every month. If you missed the September ARC giveaway there, don't worry. I'll have another for October.

This time out I have the latest from Lucy Monroe, Close Quarters (Brava, purchased). Roman Chernichenko's new mission has him traveling to Africa to eliminate a leak in a spy plot. The only trouble is, he knows his target, and he's still as attracted to her as he was when they met. Tanya Ruston does relief work, moving with a medical team from place to place. She never expects to Roman in the middle of nowhere, even with the sparks that still fly between them. Roman doesn't believe Tanya is the spy, and his team is one of the best at what they do. Still, Roman has to figure out just who his real target should be, and if that means he has to get as close to Tanya as he'd like to otherwise, that's just a side benefit. Of course, when she discovers the truth, that will put a real damper on their budding relationship, even though he knows he's just doing his job. Tanya understands, but she's not willing to risk her heart with a man who could not only potentially kill her, but break her heart along the way. And though they hatch a plan to keep Tanya safe from another set of assassins sent to dispatch her, she still won't take the chance that they could have a happily ever after. How could they? I love Lucy Monroe's books, always have. Her heroes are strong, but always willing to let their emotions have their way when it comes to the woman who is The One. And her heroines are strong enough to stand up to their heroes, to even walk away if they have to, and readers will follow them, knowing that eventually the pair will reunite. Roman is terrific, sexy and dangerous, and Tanya is compelling as well, with her desire to help those in need, while still able to see the good around her. I'm borrowing four of Cupid's five arrows for this one.

Until next time, happy reading!
