Bev said they had the usual Closest to the Pin called the “Closest to the Hippie” with a picture of a cool hippie taped to the flag on that green. They changed the Longest Drive Contest to two prizes as the longest and shortest drive which they called this the LSD for LongestShortestDrive. They even had a Best Dressed Hippie contest along with winners of the top three low-net teams.
Bev recommended that they bought a lot of hippie/peace articles on line as there were many web sites to find everything they needed. At registration they gave out peace necklaces and peace beads. They had incense burners going at the registration table to put everyone in the mood. They found great decoration as inflated guitars plus all kinds of decoration for their tables that carried out their hippie-peace theme. They even convinced the pro shop staff and restaurant staff to wear big fake moustaches and bandanas along with their peace beads and necklaces. Even the waitresses wore tie-died clothes with their peace beads.
To create an all rounded theme this group even had the Chef create a menu that went along with their Woodstock Revival. He served fresh fruit with psychedelic yogurt dip and Passion Punch before they left for the golf course. At dinner they has a strawberry/walnut salad called “Strawberry Fields Forever” followed by Steak in the Grass or filet on spinach and potato Hash. The real hash came in dessert called Little Doobie snack cake but Bev punched this up with fake joints of oregano. It made for some great fun before the entertainment started.
They had Woodstock music playing all day and even formed a circle and swayed to the music of the 5th Dimension song “Age of Aquarius/Let the Sunshine”. They even convinced their club to overlook the rule of no Jeans on the course so they came in Jean skirts, cut-offs and tie-died shirts. Of course they weren’t through yet as they had a talent contest after dinner. Bev said they had so much fun that the request came that they needed Woodstock Revival #2 next year. That is a good bet that from the 36 women they had this year it will grow to over 50 next year. Following are a couple of the pictures Bev sent to me.
